On January 12th, the boys 3rds basketball team hosted Suffield for a 3 pm tipoff in the new Barn. Deerfield played a nearly even 2nd half, but couldn’t come back from a tough 1st half and dropped a 66-44 decision to make their record 3-2 on the season. Playing without their leading scorer, the team only had 6 field goals in the decisive 1st half and trailed 36-15 at the break. Jasper McPhee ’22 returned in the 2nd half and scored 18 points, while David Thomas ’20 was also in double figures with 12 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome such a large deficit. Additionally, Suffield shot over 50% from the field and hit 6 of their 15 3-pointers to maintain a comfortable lead for much of the game. The boys 3rds team will be back in action on the road against Cushing on January 16th.
