On January 23rd, the boys 3rds basketball team traveled to Windsor, CT to face Loomis in the first of two meetings this season. A valiant 2nd half comeback fell just short, as the team lost a heartbreaking 41-40 decision to drop their record to 5-3. Deerfield didn’t register their first basket until there was 9:04 left in the 1st half, digging themselves into a deep hole. Shooting 4-24 from the field didn’t help and the deficit was 10 at half-time, 24-14. The team shot much better in the 2nd half and played better defense, finally tying the score at 35. After taking a brief lead, the score was tied at 40 and Deerfield was called for a foul with 4 seconds left. The Loomis player made one of two shots and Deerfield was unable to get off a final shot. Leading scorers for the day were Ryan Shin ’22 with 14 points and Dylan Bane ’20 with 10 points. The boys 3rds team will be back in action on January 25th for the home leg of a home-and-home series against Avon after winning on the road on January 9th. Tip off at the Barn will be at 2:30 pm.
