On January 30th, the boys 3rds basketball team traveled up the hill for a rematch against local rival Eaglebrook, after winning at home on January 5th. Despite finally gaining a lead in the 2nd half after trailing most of the game, Deerfield eventually fell 44-38 to drop their record to 5-5 on the season. Similar to the first game, Deerfield came out sluggish and only scored 14 points in the first half, trailing 17-14 at the break. Shooting less than 25% from the field and missing all 5 three-point attempts and all 4 free throws certainly didn’t help. Still, the team fought hard in the 2nd half and finally took the lead with 8 minutes left in the game. Some key missed shots and late turnovers eventually proved too much to overcome, however. Although 9 of the 13 players scored, none were in double figures for Deerfield. The boys 3rds team will be back on the court on February 6th, taking on Williston at 3:30 pm in the Barn.
