On Saturday, January 5th, the boys 3rds basketball team hosted local rival Eaglebrook School in the new athletic facility for a 3 pm tip off. After a hard-fought 51-38 win, the team upped its record to 2-1 on the season. Deerfield got off on the wrong foot, trailing 12-0 barely 5 minutes into the game. Even after ending the half on a 20-12 run, Deerfield still trailed 24-20 at half-time. After allowing an Eaglebrook basket to increase the lead to 6 right after the break, Deerfield went on a 19-3 run and finally seized the lead with 9:53 remaining in the second half. After missing his first few shots from the floor, Jasper McPhee ’22 led the way with 19 points and David Thomas had 8 second half points to lead the team. The boys 3rds basketball team hits the road again on January 9th, with a 3 pm game at Avon Old Farms.
