Traveling to Farmington, Connecticut to take on Miss Porters School for the season opener, Deerfield’s Girls Reserve Soccer played a well-fought, aggressive first half. Grace Honos, in her very first soccer game, put two goals in the net, and Piper Day, in her goalie debut, defended the DA net flawlessly until the last minute of the half. Going into the second half with a 2-1 lead, the Deerfield girls found themselves playing more and more defense — and started to wilt as their opponents turned up the heat. When the final whistle blew, the Miss Porters green team celebrated a 4-2 win over the Big Green of DA.
