Soccer, Girls: Junior Varsity loses to NMH

Event Details

The JV squad suffered a close loss to a fiercely competitive NMH team in today’s matchup. The Hoggers got off to a strong start with a goal in the first two minutes, which left Deerfield at an immediate disadvantage. They fought hard though, and the game was much more even after that. Kiki Brainard ’22 made some nice moves in the midfield, and Samara Cummings ‘20 had some stellar defensive plays to push the ball up the field. Despite their efforts, the Hoggers logged another goal. DA refused to give up however, and responded within three minutes with a beautiful goal by Kikka Giudici ’20 assisted by Liz Tarazi ’19 which blistered past the NMH goaltenders gloves. At the end of the first half, the score was 2-1.

The second half reinvigorated the Doors, and though they were unsuccessful in their comeback, they tied the game up before a late goal from NMH clinched their win 3-2. Ellia Chiang ’21, Dev Trice ’21, and Morgan Moriarty ’22 had some beautiful movement up the field, while both DA goalies Kat Hioe ’20 and Grace Arcoleo ’22 made some key saves to keep the team in the game. Kikka Giudici scored another awesome goal assisted by Grace Arcoleo. By the end of the second half the shot count was 11 for DA and 3 for NMH.  Though it wasn’t the result that Deerfield had hoped for, there was a lot to build on for their next match on Saturday!
