Deerfield pulled out a 13-7 win in their first road game of the season against Hotchkiss. CB Donnie Gray returned the opening kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown to get the scoring started. On the first play on defense, LB Reece Lagerquist forced a fumble and SS Luke Terry recovered it. QB Cortland Dicks found WR Quinton Quirrenbach for a 6 yard TD on the next drive for Deerfield to go up 13-0 in the first quarter. Deerfield was unable to find the endzone the rest of the game. Defensively, Deerfield let up a 45 yard TD pass on 3rd and 15 midway through the second quarter. That was the only score Hotchkiss had in the game. Hotchkiss attempted a 40 yd FG before the end of the first half which missed wide right. OLB Bayard DeMallie made an interception on the Deerfield 30 yard line with 1 minute left in the game to seal the victory.
