Game two of the season was played on our home turf in front of a good number of enthusiastic fans and in perfect fall field hockey weather. The defense, lead by Ali Fujiyoshi ’19 and supported by the strong efforts of Talbot von Stade ’21, helped keep the ball in our offensive end for most of the first and second halves. Pomfret’s defense, though, was equally formidable and despite nearly 20 shots and 17 corners from DA, the game score remained at 2 – 0 after 60 minutes of play. One goal in each of the halves was all DA could put past the Pomfret goaltender. Maggie Roche ‘19 fired a shot that hit the boards in the first half, and Meredith Heaney ‘19 was able to place a ball in the corner of the net half-way through the second half. As should be the case early in the season, there were a lot of things the girls talked about wanting to improve upon when we meet tomorrow for practice. Next, we will host Hotchkiss on our turf on Saturday.
