Deepak Pathapati clinched both the doubles point and the overall match for Deerfield on a beautiful spring afternoon, as DA defeated Hotchkiss 5-2 to move to 7-3 on the season. Hotchkiss is now 8-4.
After Gideon Yektai and Cosmo Hunt defeated their opponents 8-1, Alfi Auersperg and Matthew Wuyan dropped a tight 8-6 decision at first doubles. Pathapati and Yao saved two match points and eventually closed out their match by a score of 9-7.
Deerfield took a quick 3-0 lead in singles behind victories from Hunt at fifth singles and Arthur Yao at sixth singles. After Pathapati’s win, Yektai earned Deerfield’s final point at third singles.
Hotchkiss’ points came from first and second singles, where Auersperg and Wuyan battled hard but came up short.
