On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the girls’ JV lacrosse team came to the field ready to take on a challenging opponent in Hotchkiss. From the first whistle, it was apparent that DA was operating at high intensity and did a great job of connecting in transition. Defense held Hotchkiss back from scoring for most of the first half, and attack had multiple shots on goal. The girls scored 5 unanswered goals until Hotchkiss caught some momentum and scored 3 unanswered goals heading into halftime. After regrouping at the half, Hotchkiss scored shortly after the first whistle. DA answered back right away and proved tenacious in maintaining their lead throughout the remainder of the game. With two minutes left on the clock, DA found themselves up by 2 goals and worked to possess the ball in order to secure their lead. The girls walked away with a solid 9-7 over a talented and hard-working Hotchkiss team.
Notable performances from Ellie Shilling ’21 in net, Erin Howe ’20 on attack and in the midfield and the whole defensive unit behind the restraining line.
The girls look forward to our next game at Bement on Monday, May 7 at 4pm.
