Baseball: Varsity loses to Blackburn Tournament and Exeter

Deerfield lost in the semi finals of the league championship tournament by a score of 3-2 against Phillips Exeter Academy.  It was a well played game throughout, by both teams and pitchers.  Exeter took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning.  Deerfield tied the game in the top of the 6th only to have Exeter score 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it 3-1.  Deerfield scrapped back to make it 3-2 and had the tying and leading runs on base to end the game on a questionable 3rd strike call on a 3-2 count.  Jared Pantalony finished up an outstanding year, going 6 innings, allowing only 5 hits and 2 ER.  At the plate, Chris Camelio was 2-4 with 1 RBI and David Thomas hit a sac fly in the 6th inning for the other Deerfield RBI.
