Deerfield picked up a non-league win against I-91 rivals Williston Northampton by a score of 11-4. The Deerfield bats broke out in a big way, accounting for 18 hits on the afternoon. Leading the way was Javy Irizarry who went 3-5 with 2 R, 1 RBI and 1 SB. Six different Deerfield batters accounted for 2 hits and Jared Pantalony got his first hit of the year to go along with his first 2 RBI. Nick Solberg started the game and pitched 5 innings, allowing 7 hits and 4 ER and striking out 3 batters. David Thomas pitched a perfect 2 innings in relief, striking out the final 3 batters he faced. Deerfield plays Avon at home on Wednesday before starting the league tournament on Saturday.
