Arthur Yao and Cosmo Hunt both recorded the first singles wins of their career as Deerfield beat Kingswood Oxford 6-1 at home on Wednesday. With the win, Deerfield moves to 1-1 on the season.
Hunt, Deepak Pathapati, and Gideon Yektai were all two-time winners on the day. Hunt and Yektai clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win in the second position, while Pathapati and Adrian Yao got things started with an 8-3 win in the third position.
Senior Matthew Wuyan clinched the victory for Deerfield with a tight win in the second singles spot. Kingswood’s point came from a terrific match in the first singles spot, where Luke Riemann bested Alfi Auersperg in a super tiebreaker.
Auersperg and Wuyan fell in a tiebreaker at first doubles.
