Following a productive week of training in Orlando, FL over spring break and after several solid weeks of preparation back in Deerfield, the boys’ varsity rowing team kicked off their spring season this past Saturday. The top four boys’ boats traveled to Worcester, MA where they matched up against Brooks School and St. Mark’s School on Lake Quinsigamond. Beautiful blue skies and a quick tailwind made for some fun and exciting racing as all three teams competed well. Each of the four Deerfield boats pieced together strong starts and then focused on pushing the pace through the middle 500 meters. In each case, the Deerfield crews were able to work their bows to the front and maintain their leads through the finish line. In picking up wins in each race, against strong opponents, the season is certainly off to a good start for the boys, but they know there is still plenty of work to do.

The boys will travel to Quasset Lake next Saturday where they will meet Pomfret, Dexter Southfield, Groton, and Taft.
