Deerfield engaged in a low-scoring battle with the Williston Northampton School. The first half emerged as a battle of the defenses (and goalies) as both teams’ defensive units created multiple turnovers. The Big Green D rose to the day’s challenge and proved steady, confident, and strong in their efforts. Hannah Valencia was also outstanding in net as she achieved 13 exceptional saves. Our midfield transitional passing and offensive shot selection fell beneath our expectations in the first half but improved significantly in the 2nd – resulting in 7 second- half goals to only 2 in the first. Though not our most skilled performance, it was a contest filled with grit and resolve. The captains named Jordan Coan as the Give More player of the game for her leadership and execution in our strong defensive unit.
