Senior Matthew Wuyan won at second singles as Deerfield fell to Groton 6-1 in their season opener on Saturday. Deerfield is now 0-1 on the season, while Groton moves to 1-0.

Returners Alfi Auersperg, Gideon Yektai, Cosmo Hunt, and Arthur Yao all dropped singles matches, while Adrian Yao fell in his varsity debut. Groton swept the doubles matches; Auersperg and Wuyan logged the most competitive result in an 8-5 decision.

Deerfield is back on the road at Longmeadow this Wednesday at 4 pm.
