Deerfield opened up against a tough Belmont Hill squad at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, MA, losing by a score of 14-4. Deerfield fell behind 3-0 after the 1st inning and never got within striking distance the rest of the game. Both teams combined for 9 errors but Belmont Hill had a distinct advantage at the plate with 15 hits while Deerfield only managed 6. C Andy Pelc was the only Deerfield player to have a multi-hit game. RF Mike Bevino and 1B David Thomas each had doubles.
