In our final game of the season, Deerfield faced off against a playoff-bound Loomis squad at UMASS on Saturday afternoon. It took both teams some time to settle into the big ice surface, but the game was generally quick and wel-played. Loomis struck first on a beautiful tic-tag-toe goal, but we responded on the very next shift when Mary Edmonds ‘19 absolutely buried a feed from Mae Emerson ‘19. We took the lead early in the second off of a Christina Halloran ‘20 wrap around (assist to Edmonds), but Loomis scored twice in the second frame to take the lead into the final period. We were relentless in the third period, and eventually tied the score on the power play with a Deirdre Mullowney ‘19 blast (assists to Halloran and Ellia Chiang ‘21). Both teams had opportunities to find the winner in the dying minutes, but we were forced to settle for the tie. Jordan Manning was excellent in goal with 26 saves, and her counter part from Loomis also made several outstanding saves among our 30 shots on goal. A nice effort from the Big Green, and a good way to send off our four Seniors: Elizabeth Hernberg, Brenna Hoar, Meaghan O’Brien, and Ali Dougal. Thank you to the Chiang family for the sandwiches and drinks after the game!
