Girls Varsity Hockey made the short trip to Williston today to take on a quick and experienced team. The pace was fast and furious from the drop of the puck, and the Big Green did a good job of keeping Williston to the outside. The home team got on the board first on the power play in the second period, and then doubled their lead in the third. We had a few good chances, but in general didn’t mount enough sustained offensive zone pressure. Williston added a third goal into an empty net in the last 30 seconds of the game, and Deerfield came away with a hard fought 3-0 loss. Deirdre Mullowney ’19, Aurora Devereaux ’20, Ali Fujiyoshi ’19, and Erin DeMarco ’19 were fantastic all game long on defense, and Brenna Hoar ’18 had a strong game at forward. Liv Mikesell was once again excellent in goal with 26 saves. As evidenced by a rowdy and incredibly loud sing-along on the bus ride home, this team has plenty of energy and fire left, and looks forward to closing out the season on Saturday against Loomis at UMass Amherst. Thank you to the DeMarcos for the pizza, drinks, and cookies after the game.
