The JV team hosted Taft for a late afternoon game at Eaglebrook. Deerfield came out with good energy and scored early, as Andy Han ’19 scored on a rebound from Alton Machen ’18. Taft tied the game with a short-handed, breakaway goal, leaving the teams tied at the end of the first period. In the second period, Deerfield took too many penalties, which allowed a talented Taft team to score three power play goals before the end of the second. Taft finished the scoring by adding another power-play goal in the third period. Deerfield had plenty of good chances when playing at even strength, and did a better job getting pucks on net, but Taft’s goalie repeatedly stymied Deerfield’s shots. The team plays at Eaglebrook on Wednesday.
