Traveling to Hotchkiss for their season opener, DA’s girls varsity squash dominated the Bearcats and came away with a 6-1 win. In the first round of play, freshmen Willow Woodward at #7 and Devon L’Esperance at #4 in their debut as DA players easily defeated their opponents, 3-0. As did junior Griffin Dewey at #6. Co-Captain Harbour Woodward at #2 got off to a splendid start, taking the first game in overtime, but then, despite her keen strategic play, lost the next three. In the second round of play, sophomores Isabella Rolfe at #3 and Sarah Stonestreet at #5 blanked their Bearcats 3-0 – as did senior Emily Henderson at #8. In front of her teammates and a large Lakeville crowd, Co-Captain Ashley Manning at #1 took to the court. After dropping the first game, Ashley found her groove and got better and better – earning a 3-1 win and wowing the crowd with some truly brilliant points.
