Girls Thirds Basketball lost a closely contested game against Bement. Deerfield lit up the first half with four 3-pointers, but Bement answered with a steady barrage of layups and mid-range jumpers, ending the first half with an 18-20 Bement lead. Both teams turned up the defense during the second half, and the score remained close through the final seconds of the game. A Bement foul with five seconds remaining gave Deerfield the chance to tie the game, but two misses from the stripe followed by a defensive rebound and a quick layup by Bement sealed Deerfield’s fate and sent our girls into the winter break with a 28-32 loss. The Big Green return to action at home at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 5 as they take on the Owls of Stoneleigh Burnham.
