Playing in the Pioneer Valley Tip-Off at the Curry Hicks Cage on the University of Massachusetts campus, Deerfield notched a signature win against traditional basketball power Springfield Commonwealth Academy. Named player of the game by the tournament organizers, Jade Tse put on a dazzling display of shooting and dribbling, scoring 30, including a 75-foot buzzer beater at the end of the first half. Bennett Pitcher chalked up a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Jackson Pitcher outworked the opposition for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Nolan Zusi came off of the bench to score 4 pivotal points, while stepping in to take a charge near the end of the game, helping to seal the victory.
