On Wednesday, December 5th, the boys 3rds basketball team hosted Northfield Mount Hermon in the East Gym at 2 pm for the opening game of the season. The team dropped a 46-31 decision to begin the season 0-1. After a scoreless few minutes to open the first half, NMH went on a run and quickly jumped out to a 15-point margin and led 28-12 at the half. Deerfield played much better in the 2nd half and cut the lead to 9 at one point, but wasn’t able to get any closer. NMH hit a couple of 3 pointers and free throws late in the 2nd half to finish off the game. Jasper McPhee ’22 led Deerfield with 9 points and David Thomas ’20 chipped in 8. The boys 3rds basketball team will host a 4-team mini tournament at home on December 8th and will have one more game before the holiday break, December 12th on the road at the Eagle Hill School.
