On Sunday afternoon, Deerfield field hockey welcomed Greenwich Academy to Rowland turf for a final regulation home game. The game proved to be a nail-biter and play was contained primarily between the 25s throughout the 60 minutes of play. Exceptional play from DA’s midfielders Hannah Roche ’21, Meredith Heaney ’19, and Maddie Zavalick ’22 kept the game close and GA’s scoring opportunities limited. Greenwich scored during the first half, but Deerfield continued to challenge this lead throughout the remainder of the game. Despite some aggressive offensive pushes in the second half, the score remained 1 – 0 at the end of the match-up. Next up, Deerfield plays Williston on Wednesday, November 7th.
