The girls varsity soccer team traveled to the Watertown, CT immediately following Friday classes to kick-off against the Rhinos in a Friday Night Lights game during Taft’s Fall Family Weekend. From the opening kick-off the game was a fast-paced and physical. Taft earned several scoring opportunities early in the game, but the Big Green defense was flawless shutting down their opportunities. Towards the midway point of the first half, the Rhinos scored on a loose ball off a corner kick. The Big Green continued to press creating scoring opportunities of their own with Annie Kane ’20 and Sophie Opler ’19 slotting balls to forward runs. In the second half the Rhinos added a second goal. The Big Green continued to hold strong defensively and despite creating more scoring opportunities in the final 40 minutes, did not capitalize on the offensive end. The Big Green will return to action tomorrow against Exeter’s Big Red at 2pm.
