The girls varsity soccer team returned to their home field on a beautiful Wednesday fall afternoon, after a long previous week of away games. BB&N went on the attack early in the first half, but the Big Green team defense held strong turning away all of their early opportunities. Due to the collective defense, the Doors created several offensive opportunities of their own in the first half. The Knights broke through on a quick counterattack at the 28 minute mark to earn the first goal of the game. The Doors almost answered right back with Ruby Chase ’21 nearly finishing Regan Hoar’s ’20 cross at the near post. The Big Green came out strong to start the second half however, the Knights were quickly awarded a penalty kick to make the score 2-0 in their favor. It was a close back and forth game between the Big Green and the Knights, with the final score not being indicative of the play. The Big Green rallied and continued to press for a goal in the final minutes, with Annabel Gerber ’20 rocketing a free kick off the upper 90 framework of the goal.
The Big Green will look to rebound this Sunday, 10/28 at Andover; kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pm.
