Loomis came out hard from the opening whistle, and the Deerfield team, low on numbers, were caught on their heels for the first half. Loomis took it to us, peppering our fearless goalkeeper Kat Hioe ’20 with shots, and testing our defense. They scored three unanswered goals, and shut out our offense from any shots. On the positive side, our defensive unit worked incredibly hard together, and managed to catch Loomis in over ten offsides traps.
The second half saw renewed energy and confidence. The offense got the ball moving, and got some great shots on net. Deerfield turned the tables on Loomis, and the play was much more evenly matched. Our goal was scored on a rebound from a shot by Ellia Chiang ’21 and scored by Kikka Guidici ’20. Though it wasn’t our best play of the season, the team expects to bounce back for our match up against Exeter on Saturday.
