On Wednesday, October 31st, the boys junior B soccer team met Bement in a rematch from earlier in the season. Unfortunately, it was tricks rather than treats this time, as Deerfield ended up on the wrong end of a 4-1 match. Deerfield controlled play in the first half and had numerous chances, including Will Lodge ’22 hitting the crossbar in the 4th minute. That didn’t translate to an advantage on the scoreboard, however, as the first half ended at 0-0. In the 2nd half, Bement quickly seized the advantage, scoring in the 41st minute to take a 1-0 lead and adding goals in the 46th, 48th and 50th minutes for an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Leading scorer Yurok Song ’22 added a late goal just before time to avoid the shutout. With the loss, the team’s record now stands at 4-4-2 and they’ll be on the road for the last 2 matches of the season, including a trip to Vermont Academy on November 3rd for a 3 pm kickoff.
