On Wednesday, October 24th, the boys junior B soccer team traveled to visit the same Suffield Academy team that beat them 4-0 in the second game of the season. Unlike the previous week, the rematch went much better this time, with Deerfield earning a 2-1 win on the road. Suffield threatened early, forcing keeper Jack Chorske ’22 to make a great save in the 2nd minute, but Deerfield’s defense settled down after that to hold Suffield scoreless for the first half. Deerfield kept up the offense pressure and hit the post in the 26th minute, followed by a penalty kick in the 31st minute – the first of the season. Yurock Song ’22 calmly stepped to the spot and converted the penalty to give Deerfield a 1-0 lead at half-time. The second half started eventfully, with a Deerfield shot hitting the cross bar in the 37th minute. Suffield got the equalizer in the 46th minute and the last 25 minutes of the game were tense as the teams fought for the game winner. Chorske kept the game tied with another outstanding save in the 58th minute, setting the stage for Song’s winner in the 66th minute. With the win, the team’s record now stands at 4-3-2 with yet another rematch, this time against Bement, at home on October 31st at 3 pm.
