Another hard fought 0-0 tie for Deerfield’s JV field hockey team at Westminster on a cold and windy Wednesday. Despite dominating the game for the entire first half, with more than 10 shots on goal to Westminster’s 2, DA’s offense just couldn’t get past the solid defensive sweeper/goalie combo. At center forward, senior captain Jada Howard played a tremendous game, switching fields by dribbling flawlessly on the angle. On the right, Renee Ballou ’21 brought the ball out to the side before banging it in to the center of the circle, setting her offensive teammates up to shoot on goal. Senior captain Dom Whitney held her ground as left forward, tipping like a pro on the post. Emma Jaskolski ’20 beat Westminster to the ball at every turn, playing center mid and then switching to left back during the second half where she shut down a critical Westminster breakaway with minutes left in the game. On defense, sweeper Lily Faucett ’21 had a great game, stepping in to back up her goalies and clearing the ball with powerful sweeps. Despite a last minute offensive corner, DA just couldn’t get the ball in the goal, but are looking forward to taking on Taft this Saturday.
