Deerfield’s 2018 match action began with a Wednesday road trip to Dedham, Mass to take on the Nobles Bulldogs – the team that shared third place with DA in the 2017 High School Team Championships (the 3/4 playoff was cancelled due to the weather.) After the first round of play, Deerfield was up 2-1. #2 Isabella Rolfe won 3-0 convincingly, and #4 Griffin Dewey came out on top in a tight 3-1 match. At #6 Emily Henderson got off to a strong start, winning the first game 12-10, but fell short in the next three. In the second round, #7 Soo-Min Lee prevailed over her opponent, while #5 Sasha Hinckley played hard, but lost in a close 3-1 battle. #1 Ashley Manning, in an extremely close back and forth clash, lost in the fifth game. Luckily #3 Harbour Woodward was in fine form and won soundly 3-0, giving DA the needed nod to win the match 4-3.
