Squash, Girls: Varsity defeats Choate Tournament and Ethel Walker

Event Details

At the Choate Tournament, Deerfield faced Ethel Walker School in the first match of the morning, and despite the sunny day, the DA girls blanketed their EW Sundial opponents 7-0.  In Deerfield’s next match, the Choate Boars proved to be tougher competition.  Playing in the first round, Harbour Woodward at #2 made quick work of her opponent, easily winning 3-0.  And while Soo-Min Lee at #6 and Katie Parker at #7 both dropped a game, they still won convincing 3-1 matches.  Sasha Hinckley played hard at #4, but lost in three games to her gritty opponent.  Moving onto the second round, the team still needed one more victory to win the match.  Both Isabella Rolfe at #1 and Griffin Dewey #3 got off to a strong start, winning their first games, but dropped the next three despite giving great effort.  Emily Henderson at #5, though, rallied after losing her first game, defeating her opponent 3-1, giving Deerfield the win needed to beat Choate 4-3.
