On Saturday afternoon, Deerfield made the long drive to Andover to take on a fast and talented opponent. The pace of play was quick, with both teams earning good chances. Andover scored early when we left a girl open out wide, and then extended their lead early in the second on a rebound. We battled back, however, and Mae Emerson ‘19 pulled us within one on the power play, tipping home an Ali Dougal ‘18 shot. Aurora Devereaux ‘20 earned the secondary assist. We had several strong opportunities in the middle frame, but couldn’t push the puck over the goal line. In the third period, Andover had better jump, and ended up adding two insurance goals (the last in an empty net). A hard fought game, but we didn’t quite have enough to earn the win. Liv Mikesell ‘20 played well in goal with 21 saves. Thank you to the Fujiyoshis for the pizza, brownies and drinks after the game!
