In our final game before Long Winter Weekend, Deerfield took on Winchendon at home (Eaglebrook) on Wednesday night. Now down three players, everyone knew that they would have to step up and compete hard from the drop of the puck. The first period was fast and furious with very few whistles. Deerfield opened the scoring when Christina Halloran ‘20 buried a pass from Mae Emerson ‘19, with Raegan Hill ‘19 earning the secondary assist. Though we had the better of the possession for the rest of the game, we couldn’t find the back of the net again. Luckily, Jordan Manning ‘19 (14 saves) and the defense played smart and strong, and we skated away with a well-deserved 1-0 win. Everyone played well tonight, and nobody took a single shift off. A fun game for sure, and a nice way to end a challenging stretch of the season that saw us log innumerable hours on the bus. Many thanks to the Sundstroms for the Panera, fruit and drinks after the game!
