With only one practice under our belts, Deerfield headed to Winchendon this afternoon to take on Thayer in a neutral site game. We controlled the pace and play from the get-go, and came away with a comfortable 4-0 win. Christina Halloran ’20 opened the scoring, converting a nice feed from Mary Edmonds ’19 after Ellia Chiang ’21 won the puck back on the backcheck. Brenna Hoar ’18 doubled our lead early in the second period, going hard to the net and banging home a rebound from an Ali Fujiyoshi ’19 shot from the point. Haley Sundstrom ’21 also earned as assist on the play. Elizabeth Hernberg ’18 scored the third goal on a breakaway, and Ali Dougal ’18 completed the scoring with a blast from the point on the power play (assists to Erin DeMarco ’19 and Caroline Skillman ’19). Liv Mikesell ’20 earned the shutout in goal. Many thanks to the Hill family for the pizza, chicken wraps, salad, cookies and drinks after the game! Next up is a road trip down South to take on Hill School and Lawrenceville this weekend.
