The girls JV hockey team traveled to Watertown, CT on Wednesday to play a talented Taft squad. The girls had worked hard in practice to prepare for the game and came out strong from the first whistle. It was very back and forth in the first period, and both the Taft goaltender and Hollin Hanau ’18 made some excellent saves in net. Going into the second, Taft was able to get on the board and take a 1-0 lead against the Big Green. However, the girls never gave up and outshot Taft for the remainder of the game. Juliet Perry ’19 was able to put DA on the board midway through the 2nd, when she rushed the puck down the ice and beat the Taft defender. She got tripped up in front of the net and fell to her knee but was able to bury the puck through the goalie’s pads to tie up the game. It was an excellent goal! Despite many scoring attempts in the third period, the game finished in a 1-1 tie. Next up for Deerfield: the girls travel to Andover on Saturday. Go Big Green!
