The girls JV hockey team traveled to Andover, MA on Saturday to play a talented Andover squad. It took a few minutes for the girls to shake their bus legs, but they started to put together some great passing and shooting combinations halfway through the first period. Katie Whalen ‘18 put DA on the board first, scoring a beautiful goal off a pass from Juliet Perry ’19. Early in the second, Andover tied it up, but that just pushed Deerfield to fight harder for the win. Juliet Perry found the back of the net later in the second and Tierney Roche ‘18 sniped a goal from the point off a pass from Maggie Roche ‘19. Katie Whalen finished the scoring in the 3rd to give Deerfield the 4-1 win. Hunter Keller ‘20 had an outstanding game in net, thwarting several of Andover’s attempts, and the Big Green’s defenders were excellent as well (Perry, Roche, Roche, and Mackay). Next up for Deerfield: the girls play Williston on Wednesday February 7th. Go Big Green!
