The boys J.V. hockey team traveled to nearby NMH on a rare Monday contest and came away with a solid 6-3 victory. In what turned out to be the warmest day so far in 2018 we played in one of the coldest rinks in the country. Game time had the temperatures hovering slightly under the 30 degree mark and this seemed like a gift given the week we had just experienced.
Regardless of the weather conditions the Big Green came prepared to play scoring the first three goals of the game and establishing a lead they wouldn’t surrender.
Nicky Hay ’20 scored the first goal on a nifty end to end rush finishing with a high, hard shot that the goalie had no chance with. Andy Han scored minutes later going hard to the net receiving a pass from Keith Davenport ’20. Line mate Alton Machen ’20 also picked up an assist on the play. The team’s third goal came off another sharp passing combo. This time is was Alton scoring with assists going to Keith and defenseman Nate Baker ’19.
In the second period Nate Baker would score a power play goal with the assist going to Nicky Hay. NMH would get the score to 4-2 before Garrett Moe ’19 bumped the lead back to three goals as he fired a high shot past the goalie carrying the puck over the blue line off a pass from Alex Weinman ’19. Jake Presnal weighed in later in the second period scoring off a nice passing combination from Will Dale ’19 and Alex Weinman.
Alex Leong had another good day between the pipes for Big Green.
Next up we face off against Andover this Saturday at 3:30 at Eaglebrook school
