Despite an outstanding defensive effort, particularly in the half court, Deerfield lost in a close battle to an excellent New Hampton School team. The girls were able to hold New Hampton to just 17 points in the first half, and enter halftime down only 2 points, mostly through pure hustle and determination. In the second half, New Hampton was able to widen the gap with transition baskets and points from the free throw line, particularly in the final minutes. Freshman Claire Cummings earned a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Emma Reavis added 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.
