Late Saturday afternoon, Deerfield suffered a home setback against a persistent and fundamentally sound Hotchkiss squad, 28-17. This contest proved to be one of character in which the Green, not quite able to settle into a steady offensive flow, still managed to play strong defense throughout the contest. Vera Grace Menafee ’20 led all Deerfield scorers with 10 points, and Adebusola Adeyemi ’20 led all scorers with 17. Throughout practice this week, Head Coach Dr. Khaleh Thomas has reminded her team of its core principles of athleticism and enthusiasm for the game of basketball. The team, as a whole, has been rejuvenated, and this game, it seems, could be the turning point of the season. The remaining seven games of the season will help tell the tale. Deerfield (5-4) will take the court this Wednesday for an afternoon contest against Cushing Academy (3-2).
