On Wednesday, Deerfield traveled to Connecticut for a rematch with Class-A power Loomis. Eager to avenge an early season loss to the Pelicans, the Deerfield squad started fast and sustained its effort on both ends of the floor for 32 hard-fought minutes. Nick Osarenren and Bennett Pitcher proved to be the best players on the court all afternoon, each scoring 25 points and controlling the tempo of the game on the defense end with rebounds and timely blocked shots and steals. Sam Powell deftly managed the point, while successfully navigating Loomis’ full court pressure in the second half. Will Towne, Jackson Pitcher and Colman Shea all hit important three pointers that prevented Loomis from gaining momentum at moments when Deerfield’s lead narrowed. All told, Deerfield put together its most complete game of the year so far, providing a boost of confidence and momentum heading into the season’s stretch run.
