Deerfield Girls Varsity Soccer Fall to Exeter
On an unseasonably hot day in late September, the Deerfield girls varsity soccer team traveled to Exeter, New Hampshire, to take on the Big Red. After the even matched opening minutes, the Big Red broke through the Deerfield defense to go up 1-0. Soon after, the Big Red found the back of the net twice, making it 3-0 heading into halftime.
During halftime, the Big Green were able to regroup and come out stronger in the second half. Senior forward, Brenna Hoar ’18, scored off a beautiful cross from Annie Ilsley ’18 which was double assisted by her sister, left back Regan Hoar ’20. Hoar’s goal was her 3rd of the season. Despite Deerfield’s final offensive efforts, Exeter was able to find the back of the net one last time to make it 4-1. This score line would hold as Deerfield suffered their first loss of the season. The team will look to bounce back from this loss on Saturday, September 30th when they travel to Pomfret for a 4:00pm start.
