Soccer, Girls: Reserve defeats NMH

Event Details

Thirds soccer added another big victory to their tally on Wednesday afternoon, beating Northfield Mount Hermon 9-1. The team came out strong in the first half, with goals from Whitney Vogt ’20, Kikka Giudici ’20, and captain Izzy Ortiz ’18 bringing the team a 5-0 lead (each player would end the game with two goals apiece).

The second half was much the same story, with goals from Emma Johnson ’21, Mia Burch ’19, and Samara Cummings ’20 lifting the Big Green to a 9-point total. Sydney Bluestein ’21 was strong in the net as ever, allowing only one goal, and saw little action thanks to the defensive work of Trish Boonpongmanee ’20, Maddie Clough ’20, captain Annabelle Mauri ’18, Taylor Coan ’21, and Catalina Llorente ’19, as tight a team as ever in denying NMH the chance to even get off a good shot. Sophomores Grace Knight and Hope Smith got some nice touches in the midfield to help keep the game controlled and momentum on Deerfield’s side, and Morgan Clough ’20 and Sabrina Ticer-Wurr ’21 rounded out the roster on offense, as everyone did their part to ensure a huge win for Deerfield.

The team looks forward to a couple of weeks of dedicated practice as they prepare to face Loomis away on Saturday the 14th.
