Deerfield Boys Jr. A Soccer beat a well-coached Loomis Chaffee squad by a score of 6 – 0. Deerfield was first out of the gate, as Jason Liu ’19 struck quickly into the bottom left corner of the Loomis net only a few minutes into the match. In spite of a few missed chances, the boys kept the lead with only one shot on goal by Loomis that missed to the far right. Deerfield went up 2 – 0 on a free kick from Colin Olsen ’19 which sailed past the outstretched fingers of the Loomis keeper. Although the opposition maintained possession for a significant portion of the half, they were unable to convert any of their breakaway opportunities. Liu put his second goal straight into the top right of the net, as Deerfield took a 3 – 0 lead into the half.
After the break, Connor Guest ‘20 flicked a beautiful goal into the net with one touch on the pass from Noah Jung ‘19 Shortly thereafter, Adrian Yao ‘20 skirted two defenders from the left side of the box and kicked a ball directly past the keeper to make it 5 – 0. After some back and forth as Loomis attempted to regain control, starting sweeper Seth Blain ’20 put in the final goal from the left side of the box. Deerfield maintained control over the remaining time, and walked away with the decisive victory.
