Deerfield played an excellent first half against the Hotchkiss Bearcats in Saturday’s contest. Coming out on the offensive, Deerfield pushed hard in the opening 25 minutes and tallied 9 goals in the half. Meghan Halloran, named player of the game, provided the Big Green with critical draw possessions that kept the tide of momentum rolling in Deerfield’s favor. Of the 20 draws taken on the day, Meghan won 9 – the majority of which occurred in the first half. As the first half drew to a close, Deerfield found themselves ahead by a score of 9-4. To Hotchkiss’ credit, the Bearcats put up a steady fight in the 2nd half, and Big Green possession opportunities were reduced considerably. With 4 minutes remaining on the clock and a two-goal advantage, Deerfield maintained final possession and walked away with the victory.
