What a nail-biter! The Doors played a tight game against a strong Loomis team, prevailing in the end with a 12-9 victory. Loomis led off with three quick goals, but after a time-out reset, Deerfield rebounded decidedly. Until the last three minutes of the 2nd half, the game stayed within 1-2 goals, as both teams made the most of every possession. Coaches were especially impressed at the girls’ defense in the midfield; they fought hard and doubled, forcing several turnovers. Deerfield pulled ahead at the end, skillfully maintaining possession to assure a decisive win in the last minutes. Scorers included Paige Gilbert and Virginia Murphy, each with three goals, Emily Stonestreet and Emily Henderson each with two, and Isabella Geraci and Olivia Geraci, each with one. Jill O’Connor also had another great game in the net with eight saves. Many thanks to the wonderful fans who came out to the game, and special thanks to the parents who brought such fun treats for our post-victory enjoyment. The team is looking forward to playing Hotchkiss this Saturday!
