Deerfield Academy JV Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over Northfield Mount Hermon

Deerfield Academy JV grabbed an early lead on its way to an 11-2 victory over Northfield Mount Hermon on Monday. The Big Green scored on a double by John Sawyers and a single by Alex Smith in the first inning. John Sawyers doubled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring two runs.

Deerfield scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Matthew Gardner, a walk by Sawyers, and a groundout by Kanishkh Kanodia.

Gardner earned the win for Deerfield. He threw six innings, giving up one run, three hits, and striking out ten.

The team collected 12 hits. Sawyers and Miles Menafee each collected multiple hits for the JV squad. Menafee and Sawyers each collected two hits to lead Deerfield.
