JV Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over Northfield Mount Hermon
Deerfield JV defeated Northfield Mount Hermon 16-6 thanks to a strong start. The Big Green squad scored on a double by Will Shuhda, a stolen base, and a single by Henry Renelus in the first inning. The team collected 17 hits on the day.
The Big Green took an early lead in the first inning. Will Shuhda drove in one when he doubled in the first inning. At the end of the first inning Deerfield led 5-0.
DA scored 9 runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Shuhda, an error, a double by Luke Terry, a double, a single by Shane Graves, and a single by Henry Renelus.
Alex Smith earned the win for the Big Green JV. He threw four innings, giving up three runs, three hits, and striking out one.
Shuhda, Renelus, Graves, and Thomas Gale each collected multiple hits on the day. Renelus and Shuhda each drove in three runs to lead the team. DA tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Terry led the way with two.
