The varsity girls took the long ride to Hotchkiss on Saturday for an afternoon match. The doubles matches were competitive across the board. Ashley Manning and Tori Waterfall used their superior volleys to jump out to an early lead at first doubles. Their Hotchkiss opponents adjusted well and played from the baseline to come back for the 8-4 win. Hotchkiss capitalized on some mental errors from the Deerfield second and third doubles teams to take the remaining doubles sets. At singles, every Deerfield player fought hard to the last point. Tori Waterfall took four games in the first set and played close in the second as well. Esme Benjamin continued her standout rookie season with a steady 6-1, 6-3 win at fourth singles. Mimi Delisser kept things close through both sets, ultimately yielding 3-6, 2-6. Adeliza Grace registered another Deerfield win at sixth singles, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-2. Deerfield looks forward to a visit from Loomis on Saturday, May 6th.
